Significant Details

Thank you all for your sweet patience while I get this new blog up and going. I am glad I don't have to depend on someone for my own design work but at the same time I can be slightly OCD when it comes to my own projects. Sometimes insignificant details get too much time spent on them. However, I am happy to say that sometimes I get lost in the significant details as well. Today I introduced him to painting and it's all he talked about right up until bedtime.

Operation Inspiration: Pinterest

One of my nightly rituals is to settle on my couch with a quilt, glass of iced tea, or a mug of hot tea and I find myself lost in the inspiring and hypnotizing world of Pinterest.

Tonight I actually have iced tea and hot tea by my side. I tend to usually be on the cold side, but recently I have found myself having hot flashes every night. I'm not 50, nor am I pregnant, so your guess is as good as mine. Any doctors out there? The ice tea is for the hot flash and the hot tea is for my sore throat that has developed over the past few days. It is quite normal for me to have several beverages on hand at one time anyways since I have a deep rooted fear of being thirsty and not having something to drink. <----- There's a little Karis trivia fact for you.

Here are some of my favorite pins from the past few days:

Clothes That Exist in my Head... and on Ebay

Me and ebay have a love/hate relationship. I like that on occasion I can find unique, well priced items on ebay. However, I absolutely dread having to sift through the thousands of 1995 inspired styles. I'm not talking about the cool, retro, "I love the 90's" style. I mean the mom jeans, pumpkin and snowman embroidered vests, and shoes that a hideous enough to make one cry.

I've been adding to my winter wardrobe the past few weeks. When I moved to Texas I also began an entire season pf purging. From the kitchen to the closets... and yes, I mean wardrobes. Winter in Houston was just not long enough to warrant any significant amount of warm clothes. A couple of hoodies, some cardigans and a coat would do just fine.

So I have this problem that e-bay can sometimes be a solution for. I have a certain article of clothing in my head, I know exactly what it looks like and how it fits, but the problem is that it's only in my head. I design clothes in my head and start wanting pieces that don't even exist in stores. On occasions I can design and whip up my own creations to solve this problem but when it comes to sweaters and shoes... I'm at the mercy of e-bay and other various on-line retailers. Here's what's made it to my "watch" list as of lately. Some I will buy and some are simply there to inspire. (some retailers that I like are from Hong Kong or something and it would take 23 days for it to arrive... so pay attention to location of the seller if you ever go the ebay route!!)

Chaos, Grace and Glam

I am quite excited about launching this new blog.

For the past several years I have had my blog, Pretty City Sweets (click here to see) and it has provided a wonderful place for me to express my thoughts, the happenings of our life and the sweets and treats that I would make. Life has taken us from Texas, to Illinois, back to Texas, and now back to Illinois... to stay! We are embarking on the greatest adventure of our life, and watching our dreams come true right before our very eyes. We will be planting a new church in February 2012 (Click here for more info on CITY HOPE CHURCH). We are starting City Hope Church in a place that we love, with people who bring joy to our life. We are incredibly passionate about seeing people who are living without hope, begin to experience life with hope and purpose. It consumes our thoughts and we just can't escape our love for the city of Centralia. Church planting is going to be a grand adventure, with many new challenges, lessons and seasons. I go from fear to peace and back again at least 20 times a day. This is all so much bigger than anything me or Seth could do in our own strength, so we know it was God who brought us to this point, and God who will carry us from here on out.

As we take on this new season and begin to watch God move in new ways, I wanted a new place to write and record all of the ups, downs, chaos, grace and glam... and everything in between. I'll be writing, creating, seeking inspiration, shopping, cooking and baking, sharing my own personal fashion infatuations, keeping you up to date on our family news, church news, and I'm sure there will be more!

Stick with me through the next few days and weeks as I develop this new blog and get it up and going!

With great anticipation,
Karis Rochelle
